About this trip

A four-day sweep from Kerala's backwaters to its highest tea country: an overnight houseboat cruise through Alappuzha's canals and paddy fields, a drive up into the pine forests and open meadows of Vagamon, and a scenic jeep ride through misty tea plantations to Kolukkumalai — among the highest tea estates in the world — with stops at Jaguar Point and Lockhart Viewpoint.

How the 3N/4D actually goes

  1. Day 0: Bangalore | Setting Off

    Board your vehicle in the evening for the overnight drive from Bangalore to Alappuzha. Settle in as the city lights fade behind you, with lively music and warm conversation setting the mood for the road ahead. Travel through winding highways and rolling green landscapes through the night, arriving in Alappuzha the next morning.

  2. Day 1: Alappuzha | Backwaters & Houseboat

    Arrive in Alappuzha, the 'Venice of the East,' and check in to your private houseboat. Cruise through lush paddy fields, swaying coconut palms and quiet village life, spotting local birdlife along the canals. Settle in for the evening with lively music and indoor games aboard, then watch the sunset over the water before a delicious traditional Kerala dinner.

  3. Day 2: Vagamon & Kolukkumalai | Meadows to Mist-Covered Hills

    After breakfast, disembark from the houseboat and drive uphill into the cool climate of Vagamon. Wander through the pine forest, relax by Vagamon Lake and take in the open meadows and Murugan Mala before continuing on to Kolukkumalai. Check in to your hotel in Kolukkumalai and unwind by a campfire with live music as evening falls, laughter mingling beneath a starry sky.

  4. Day 3: Kolukkumalai | Tea Estate & Viewpoints

    After a nourishing breakfast, check out and set off on a scenic jeep ride through misty tea plantations and winding mountain roads towards Kolukkumalai's most breathtaking viewpoints, including Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, Jaguar Point and Lockhart Viewpoint. After the trek, grab lunch at a local café (lunch not included), then begin the scenic return drive to Bangalore, catching sunset views over the Western Ghats along the way.
